Amy Dion, B.Sc., RDH

Registered Dental Hygienist

As a Dental Hygienist with extensive experience since 2002, I have worked in various practice types, including cosmetic, general, and specialized areas such as geriatric, oral cancer, and dental anxiety. Additionally, from 2009 to 2017, I served as a clinical instructor in Dental Hygiene at Southern Ontario Dental College (formerly ODEI), educating students in hands-on Dental Hygiene practices. With a Bachelor of Science from McMaster University (2000) and a Dental Hygiene degree from Durham College (2002), my keen interest lies in the science of teeth and oral health.

My journey led me to realize the importance of personalized care and understanding my clients' needs, choices, and lifestyles to provide tailored services. While working in traditional dentist-owned dental offices, I identified the need for more time with clients to understand and address their unique risks for dental issues.

Motivated by this, I embraced independence from a dental office, allowing me to offer a comprehensive, preventive approach to dental health by considering past dental treatment, oral hygiene ability, diet, medications, lifestyle, and overall health. Over the years, I've assisted numerous clients in gaining control over ongoing dental issues and helped them achieve long-term wellness.

In 2007, with the advent of Dental Hygienists opening their own practices, I seized the opportunity. In 2010, I established my first location in Stoney Creek, and later in 2017, expanded to a second office in Smithville, offering flexible evening and weekend appointments.

I am proud to be a member in good standing with the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario, the Ontario Dental Hygiene Association, and the Canadian Dental Hygiene Association, demonstrating my commitment to professional excellence and ongoing learning in the field.

Vision

My vision for the future of dentistry is one in which dental disease and pain are rare, and the public understands how diet, general wellness, and targeted effective dental products can be implemented to PREVENT dental issues.
