Dental Insurance | What Is Covered?

Just like in your dentists office, your treatment can be submitted by us directly to your insurance company. Many insurance companies now allow you to submit your receipts online for a quick reimbursement. Dental insurance can be tricky to understand as most insurance policy documents are many pages long. The coverage for each dental service also depends on your individual policy, which can vary greatly depending on the package you or your employer has chosen. It is helpful for you to understand your coverage details as providers do not have full access to your private insurance information. Most insurances allow for an exam, polish, and fluoride after so many months, while there is an allotted amount of hours of cleaning/scaling time, you may divide up to use over the year. In your insurance information booklet, online, or by phone call, you can find some of the information we usually ask insurance providers:

• How often can I have a dental exam, polish, or fluoride?
• Do I have coverage for antibacterial treatments or gum treatments?
• Do I have coverage for a New Patient Exam or a Periodontal Exam?
• How much time for ‘scaling’ am I allowed per year?(many patients are covered for 3 and 4 month appointments if needed)
• What is the coverage limit amount?
• Is there a deductible? (if so, how much?)

We are to make sense of insurance policies, ensure you receive the proper treatment, and that your insurance provider covers their share. I may do this by submitting a dental plan on your behalf to find out more about your coverage, or providing you with the paperwork needed so you can handle your insurance claims with ease.

It is important to note that insurance carriers do not release information to third parties (including Dental Hygiene practices) even if I have informed and signed consent. So, I will do my best to ensure you know your limits before any procedures and treatment plans are started. It is also important to note that regardless of the insurance coverage, you are responsible for the cost of service. I may provide financing options depending on your individual situation and any patient who is looking for assistance should speak with me upon booking their next appointment.
